With over 8500 people accessing their service in the last year, Lancashire women support women, men, and businesses with well-being and training. Services that they offer are:

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing support for individuals and businesses
  • Employment and Skills Support
  • Money, Benefits and Debt Advice
  • Justice and Safeguarding

Established over 35 years ago, the organisation’s mission is to empower people to transform their lives by bringing them together, helping them to find their voice, share experiences and develop their knowledge and skills.  Across their 4 Lancashire sites, they support those who find themselves in situations that can increase vulnerability or place them at significant risk of harm.

Supporting the Community throughout the Pandemic

The past year has been a time of great uncertainty and many parents have found themselves struggling with the additional living costs during the pandemic due to school closures, increased food bills and reduced incomes. Money, debt and benefit advice is just one area where Lancashire women support the local community giving people the knowledge and skills to take control of their finances.

Mental health has been a massive focus throughout 2020 as the nation experienced lockdown, bereavement and separation their loved ones, restrictions which don’t seem to be elevating and can potentially cause harm in both the short and long term.  Lancashire Women are an NHS commissioned charity underpinned by IAPT and BACP accredited to deliver a wide range of therapeutic interventions including group and one to one sessions, something they have had to find creative ways to continue to deliver throughout the pandemic.

Other services they offer include supporting those facing homelessness, poor emotional wellbeing and experiences of trauma and abuse by placing staff within police custody and prison settings to support engagement.

Anyone can refer to their services either via their website here or by calling 0300 330 1354.
